Robert “Bob” Ahrens, 82, of Boone, Iowa, passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at his home.

Robert George Ahrens was born on September 28, 1942, in Boone, the son of George Fredrick and Margaret Irene (Stevens) Ahrens.
Bob graduated with the Boone High School class of 1960. Following his education, Bob worked at Grabau Construction, Condon’s Service Station, and on his Uncle Bud’s dairy farm in Boone. He later owned and operated Ahrens Service Station in Ogden for many years until retiring.
On January 17, 1964, Bob was united in marriage to Patricia “Pat” Koenig. They established their home in Boone and were blessed with three children, Lou Ann, Deborah and Mike. They later divorced.
Bob volunteered for Boone County Civil Defense for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his motorcycle, and dirt track racing. Bob and Pat were proud to have fostered many children.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Ahrens; sister, Janice (James) Neese; Hambletongrandson, Mikial Pooley; and grandson-in-law, Brian Lage.
Survivors include three children, Lou Ann Ahrens of Ames, IA, Deborah Ahrens also of Ames, IA, and Mike (Jill) Ahrens of Ogden, IA; seven grandchildren, Mikael Lage, Stephon (Cassie) Ahrens, Amber (Ben) Anderson, Caden Pooley, Caleb Pooley, and Anakin Larson; 12 great grandchildren, Ivan Logue, Clark Lage, Julia Lage, Calleigh Ahrens, Brantley Ahrens, Izlee Ahrens, Haylie Anderson, Tina Anderson, Aiden Anderson, Bryson Anderson, Bella Anderson, and Hank Anderson; his sister, Joyce Myers of Boone, IA; sister-in-law, Martha “Toby” Ahrens and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
