Robert "Bob" Johnson

Robert D. Johnson, 87, of Beaver, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at Carson – Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden. Dr. Bill Bowers will officiate. Burial will be in the Beaver Cemetery. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Boone Veteran's Council Visitation will be Monday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Carson – Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden. Robert Dean Johnson was born on April 8, 1927, in Rockwell City, Iowa, the son of
Ernest and Nettie (Harms) Johnson. He attended school in Rinard. Following his education, Bob served his country in the United States Marine Corp during WWII.

On August 2, 1947, Bob was united in marriage to Dorothy Root. To this union three children were born: Nancy, Shirley and Dianne.

Bob and Dorothy had lived and farmed in Calhoun County, and North of Bouton, before establishing their home on a farm South of Beaver in the 1950's. The couple retired from farming in 2001.

Bob enjoyed square dancing, fishing, playing cards, watching area slow pitch softball games, and most of all following his grandchildren and great-grandchildren's sports and activities.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy Johnson of Beaver, Iowa; two daughters, Nancy Tichenor of Virginia, and Shirley (Dave) Rooker of Omaha, Nebraska;
five grandchildren, Wendy (Gary) Swanson, Stacy Tichenor, Shannon Romack, Trevor (Becky) Rooker, and Brad Rooker; one brother, Paul (Ruby) Johnson of Rutland, Iowa; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Dianne Hennick in 2003, and one brother, Kenneth Johnson.

Memorial may be left to the discretion of the family.
