Robert Buchmiller, 84, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at the Boone County Hospital.

Robert's wishes were to be cremated. A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 29, 2016, at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden. Pastor Bruce Thomas will officiate. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Boone Veterans Council. A time of fellowship and lunch will be served at the Leonard Good Community Center immediately following the graveside service. Robert Floyd Buchmiller was born on March 26, 1932, in Jefferson, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Alice (Beaty) Buchmiller.

On August 26, 1952, Robert was united in marriage to Betty Bollenbaugh in Des Moines, Iowa. After the couple's marriage, Robert was drafted by the United States Army serving his country during the Korean War. Robert was honorably discharged in 1954, and the couple made their home in Jefferson, Iowa, until moving to Ogden in 1955. In the early 1970's he was a special police officer for the Ogden Police Department helping out with town events.

Bob worked for Milwaukee Railroad, and did many miscellaneous jobs before going to work for the Iowa Department of Transportation where he worked for 30 years retiring in 1994.

Bob was the Iowa Junior State Trap Shooting Champion in 1949 and member of the Hunt and Fish Club. Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and watching old western movies with family and friends.

Robert is survived by his wife, Betty Buchmiller of Ogden, Iowa; five children, Mike "Squeak" Buchmiller, Denny "Bucky" Buchmiller, Charlie (Mabel) Buchmiller, Pam Mace and Mark (Patty) Buchmiller all of Ogden; nine grandchildren, Bridget, Amy, Annie, Joseph, Toni, Kristopher, Katie, Amber, and Travis; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia (John) Roper of Lohrville, Iowa and Nancy (Ritchie) Mantha of Jonesboro, Indiana and several nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, June Harris and Doris Rather; son-in-law, Brent Mace and a brother-in-law, Charles Rather.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
