Robert D. Hoyer, 87, of Dayton, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2018, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 30, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dayton. Pastor Michael Standfest will officiate. Burial will follow at the Dayton Cemetery. Robert Dwaine Hoyer was born on March 19, 1931, south of Burnside, Iowa, the son of Walter and Maye (Johnson) Hoyer.
Bob was baptized on May 2, 1931, at the Trinity Lutheran Church parsonage near Dayton and confirmed on May 20, 1945. He attended Elementary School in Burnside and High School in Dayton.
Bob farmed with his father until his passing in 1957, and continued farming with his mother for the next few years. He enjoyed working as a mechanic with Kenny Sanders at Sanders Tractor Repair for over 30 years. He lived in the Burnside and Dayton area his entire life. Bob was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Dayton where he has served as an usher for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a nephew, Mark Hambleton.
Survivors include his sister, Doris (John) Hambleton of Dayton, IA; three nephews, Monte (Kathy) Hambleton of Sugarland, TX, Mitch (Ruth) Hambleton of Dallas Center, IA, Blake (Melissa) Hambleton of Richmond, TX, and Jane Hambleton (Mark's wife), of Fort Dodge, IA; as well as great nieces & nephews and friends.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
