Roberta Ann Reutter Clausen
Roberta A. Clausen, 79, of Ames, and formerly of Boxholm, Iowa, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2022, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames surrounded by her family.
A celebration of Roberta’s life will be held 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm. Rev. Rod Meyer will officiate. Visitation will be prior to the service at the Church, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at a later date at Lawn Cemetery, rural Boxholm. Roberta was born in Ogden, Iowa, on May 14, 1942, the daughter of Donald Loel Reutter and Mabel Anna Martha Hedblom Reutter. She passed to eternal life on March 7, 2022.
Roberta graduated from Grand Community High School in 1960 (the same year her parents got inside plumbing). She worked at Greene County Hospital and as a dental assistant for Dr. Eddie Baker in Jefferson.
Roberta married her high school sweetheart Roy Clausen on February 24, 1960. To this union were born two daughters, Jayne and Janine. She worked at Boone County Hospital for five years, then at ASCS office (now FSA office), for 27 years, retiring in 1996. She enjoyed caring for and supporting family and friends, keeping up on her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s lives and activities, travel, and quilting with the church ladies. She served on many committees at Trinity Lutheran Church before moving to Ames.
Roberta is survived by her husband of 60 years, Roy Clausen; daughters Jayne (David) Hansen, and Janine (Jerry) Magnuson; four grandchildren: Jenna Magnuson, Jerra (Eddie) Williams, Sam Hansen, and Abby Hansen; great-grandchildren: Prince, Cartier and RéAlity Williams, and step-great-grandchildren Naema and Stefan; four sisters: Marjorie (Ken) Peterson, Marilyn (Jerry) Stumbo, Geraldine (Barry) Martin, and Marlene Rabern; four brothers: Larry (Jackie) Reutter, Leo Reutter, Gene Reutter, and Gary (Vicki) Reutter; and sisters-in-law: Ruth Reutter, Jan Reutter, Sharon Laughlin, and Sharon Clausen. She is also survived by 40 plus nieces & nephews and their beautiful families.
Preceding her in death were her parents; sisters: Dorothy Davidson, Donna Gillis, Darlene Reutter, and Rosella Gordon; brothers: Ronald Reutter and Robert Reutter; sisters-in-law: Karen Reutter, Margaret Reutter, and JoAnn Clausen; brothers-in-law: John Davidson, Gene Gillis, Richard Gordon, Stan Laughlin, Ray Clausen and Jay Clausen; and her mother and father-in-law, Arlene and Vernon Clausen and nephews Erik Laughlin and Tom Gillis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to either Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm or Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
