Roberta "Bobbie" Thompson Platt, 83, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 4, 2012, at the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden, with a luncheon to follow in fellowship hall. Rev. Gary Hoyt will officiate. Visitation will be Friday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Church. Burial will be at Moon Cemetery in Macksburg, Iowa. Following the graveside services refreshments will be served at the United Methodist Church in Macksburg. Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden is in charge of the arrangements.
Roberta Thompson was born on December 6, 1928, in Guthrie County, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Mabel McGiviney Thompson.
Bobbie was united in marriage to Francis Platt on December 15, 1946, at her family's farm in Madison County. The couple lived and farmed near Macksburg where Bobbie worked at Union State Bank for several years. After retiring in 1991, Bobbie and Francis moved to Ogden.
Bobbie belonged to the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden. She enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family and many friends.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Dick, and sisters, Naomi, Grete and Jean.
She is survived by her loving husband, Francis Platt; three children, Libby (Guy) Wyatt, Suzy (Jeff) Campbell, and Mark (Debbie) Platt; five grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and sisters, Ruth, Lee, and Jo.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden.
