Roger C. Stevens, 83, of Dayton, Iowa passed away early Wednesday morning, March 5, 2025, at his home.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 10, 2025, at the United Methodist Church in Dayton. Pastor Kay. Christie will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday, March 9, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., at Carson ~ Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton. Burial of ashes will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Lawn Cemetery in Boxholm, Iowa. Roger Crary Stevens was born on March 16, 1941, in Boxholm, the son of Clarence & Ruby (Swanson) Stevens. He graduated with the Dayton Consolidated High School class of 1959.
Roger was married to LaVon Campbell from 1962 - 1976. To this union two children were born: Colette and Lee.
On June 3, 1978, Roger was united in marriage to Patricia Ann (Foell) Emanuel Lutheran Church in Dayton. They were blessed with one son, Nathan. Pat passed away on September 24, 2009.
In his early years Roger farmed prior to working at Northern Propane Gas out of Jefferson. He later worked in the construction field as a general contractor, at Farmer’s Cooperative in Dayton, and finally at West Central Cooperative in Boxholm.
Roger enjoyed snowmobiling in Wyoming, camping with family & friends, and spending many weekends at Don Williams campground. He also loved helping his son, Nate in the shop at Kowboy Kustoms.
Survivors include companion Judy Sorenson of Dayton, Iowa, and her family; children, Colette (Kevin) Collen of Garner, Iowa, Lee (Heather) Stevens of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Nathan (Sara) Stevens of Dayton, Iowa; seven grandchildren, April (Wade) Behrends, Mysti Kuhlman, Adam (Brittany) Collen, Nicole (William) Funk, Ty Stevens, Tucker Stevens, and Trennis Stevens; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; brother, Louis (Ivis) Stevens of Tucson, Arizona; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Pat Stevens, sisters, JoAnne Angstrom and Beth Ozbun, and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
