Roger Tolsdorf, 79, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 23, 2015, at the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden. Pastor Evelyn Lewiston will officiate. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m., at the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden. Roger Kenyon Tolsdorf was born on November 19, 1935, in Scranton, IA, the son of Ludwig & Hazel (Robertson) Tolsdorf. He graduated from Grand Junction High School as president of the class in 1953, after which he attended Iowa State University.
Roger was united in marriage to Bonnie Crouch on February 16, 1958 in the Presbyterian Church in Grand Junction. The couple made their home in Beaver where Roger managed the Quaker Oaks Elevator. After living in Scranton for a year, the couple moved to Ogden in 1963 to farm. He retired from farming in 2000. Roger owned and operated the Ogden Maid Rite for 20 years.
Roger was a member of the Community United Methodist Church. He was a Master Mason of the Rhodes Lodge #303, vice-president of the McGraw Senior Center, and a past member of the Ogden Jaycees. For several years he taught young people to golf. He enjoyed golfing, camping, visiting, driving around the countryside with his bride. The couple wintered in Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Tolsdorf of Ogden, IA; one son, David (Pamela) Tolsdorf of Ogden, Iowa, daughter, Michele Tolsdorf of St. Louis, MO; two grandchildren Joshua & Caitlin Tolsdorf of Ogden; three brothers Norman (Barbara) Tolsdorf of Lebanon, MO, Larry Tolsdorf of Wichita, KS & Richard (Vickie) Taggart of Des Moines, IA; sister Anne (Mark) Pfeffer of Houston, TX & many nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers John & Jerry.
