Ronald James Good, 90, rural Ogden, Iowa died Tuesday, June 16, 2009.
Funeral services will be held Saturday June 20, 2009 @ 9:30 AM at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden. Rev. Dennis Shepherd will officiate. Burial will be at Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone. Visitation will be Friday 5-7 at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden.
Ronald J. Good was born on the family farm July 12, 1918, the son of James & Amanda (Johnson) Good. He attended school in Boxholm graduating in 1935. On November 25, 1944 he married Eileen H. Sandberg. He farmed his entire life with the exception of the time he served during WW II as Staff Sergeant in the Army.
Ronald's life long passion was farming - from feeding cattle, to planting and harvesting the corn and beans. Even when he could no longer work the fields, he continued to drive the sections to check out the crops and talk about farming with his sons.
He served his community as President of the Grand Community School Board at Boxholm, as a 4-H leader and as a member of the Boone County Cattlemen's Association. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Boxholm.
Survivors include three sons, Thomas (Colleen) of Pilot Mound and his children, Wade (Robin), Matthew (Jessi), Adam and Aaron; son William (Lindy) of Fort Dodge and their children, Anne (Don) Davidson and Steve (Tillie); and son Randall (Lori) of Ogden and their children, Michael, Brian, Patrick and Elizabeth; and two great-grandchildren, Bridget and Caleb. He is also survived by four step-grandchildren, Joy (Brian) Culberson and children, Beth, Elle, and Kate; Allison (Jordan) Fisher and children, Sarah, and Sam; Janelle (Jared) DeMeuleanere and children, Brandon, Grant, Megan, and Elizabeth; and Brent Tjarks. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 2006 and his brothers Loel and Raymond.
Memorials may be left to the Iowa Arboretum, Madrid or to the charity of your choice.
