Roy James Coffman, 94, of Boone, Iowa, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025, at the Mercy One Hospital, Des Moines, Iowa. Roy was born January 3, 1931 at King’s Daughter Hospital in Perry, Iowa the son of Jack and Bessie Coffman. The family moved to Boone, Iowa where Roy attended school and graduated May of 1949.
On September 22, 1950, Roy was united in marriage to Marilyn Rose Hasstedt at Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden, Iowa. Marilyn and Roy lived in Boone and were members of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone.
Roy spent much of his working life as a salesman for several different food brokerages prior to starting a food brokerage business with a partner.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 16, 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone. Rev. Mike Standfest will officiate. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden. Survivors include: two sons and families – Curt Coffman of Boone, Craig (Janna) Coffman of Independence, Iowa. Three grandchildren: Jonathan (Mallory) Coffman, Altoona, Iowa; Emily (Todd) Graham, Forest Park, Illinois and Alex Coffman, Coralville, Iowa. One great granddaughter Scarlett Coffman and three great grandsons Asher and Everett Coffman and Theo Graham. Three step grandchildren – Pam (Jim) Cullen, Spencer, Iowa, Julie Frye (Keith Walters), Ogden, Iowa and Larry Warren of Ogden, Iowa. There are six step great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. There are several nieces and nephews.
Roy was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn, all his siblings and his parents.
