Ruth E. Carpenter

Ruth E. Carpenter, 91, of Dayton, Iowa, and formerly of Lehigh, died Thursday morning, October 15, 2009, at Grandview Health Care Center in Dayton.

Ruth's body has been cremated. Graveside burial of ashes will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 19, 2009, at Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Lehigh, Iowa. Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton is in charge of arrangements.

Ruth was born on April 4, 1918 in Lehigh, Iowa. She attended Lehigh schools. Ruth was united in marriage to Carrel Carpenter on October 16, 1937, in Webster City. The couple made their home in Lehigh. Carrel passed away on July 5, 1962. Ruth was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include six daughters, Elberta (Ron) Anscholtz, Margaret (Dale) Dutcher, Zelda Zabel, Carol Carpenter, Doris (John) Hammond, and Bobbie (Gene) Blaskey; one son, Larry Carpenter; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother, Joe Good; and three sisters, Mary Podlesak, Lillian Schultz, and Bessie Gerth. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carrel Carpenter; a daughter in infancy; and her grandson, Brian Blaskey.
