Ruth Kling, 100, of Muscatine, Iowa, died October 22, 2014, at the Lutheran Living Senior Campus in Muscatine, Iowa. Funeral services will be 10 am, Monday, October 27th at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Burnside with the Rev. Julian Swanson officiating. Burial will be at the Dayton Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Sunday, October 26th at the Carson-Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton, Iowa.
Ruth was born on her parent's farm by Palm Grove, Iowa on April 17, 1914 to Otto and Annie (Swanson) Kling. She was baptized and confirmed in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Burnside, Iowa. Ruth graduated from Burnside High School in 1931 and worked on her parent's farm. She farmed with her brothers until retirement.
Ruth belonged to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Burnside and was a member of Svenska Klubben. She was the family historian and enjoyed two trips to Sweden to visit relatives there. She was a lifelong learner and enjoyed reading and working on her computer. Ruth also enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, baking, playing cards, and entertaining family and friends.
Ruth is survived by a nephew, Robert Kling of Muscatine, IA; and two nieces, Laurann Patterson, of Plymouth, MN and Vernice Knudson of Neenah, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents; Otto and Annie, brothers and sisters, Robert Kling, Helga Olson, Inez Challstrom, Harold Kling, Donald Kling and David Kling.
Memorials may be directed to the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Burnside or Lutheran Living Senior Campus in Muscatine.
