Ruth Mantz

Ruth V. Mantz, 101, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2017, at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2017, at the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden. Rev. Gary Hoyt will officiate. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural Dawson, Iowa. Visitation will be Thursday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Carson – Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden. Ruth Viola Bugbee was born on March 11, 1916, in Dallas County, Iowa, the daughter of Homer and Freda (Halling) Bugbee. She was a graduate with the Redfield High School.

On November 27, 1939, Ruth was united in marriage to Dean Mantz. To this union three children were born: Clinton, Nadean, and Richard. Ruth and Dean lived and farmed in the communities of Dawson and Ogden. Dean passed away in 1969. Ruth then worked as a Nurse's Aide at the Ogden Manor for several years.

Ruth was a member of the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden. She enjoyed sewing, flowers, gardening, and her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Clinton Mantz of Ogden, Iowa, Nadean (Gary) Lamle of Columbia City, Indiana, and Richard Mantz of Ogden, Iowa; grandchildren, Kalene (Rick) Summerville of MO, Karla (Matt) Bott of CO, Tonya (Travis) Schwarzkopf of IA, Amanda (Dan) Lass of IA, Danielle (Mike) Moore of FL, and Eric (Elizabeth) Heineman of IN; great-grandchildren, Jade (Kylen) Byrd, Amber Summerville, Brooke Summerville, Cole Bott, Cale Bott, Dillon Schwarzkopf, Samantha Lass, Tyler Lass, Macy Lass, Houston Heineman, Sam Heineman, and Ellen Heineman; and one great-great-granddaughter, Austyn Byrd.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dean Mantz, three sisters, Zola Bugbee, Gayle Collins and Olive Fagen, two brothers, Gene Bugbee and Ward Bugbee, and one granddaughter, Marie Heineman, and a great grandson A.J. Summerville.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
