Sharon Carson 67, of Ogden, Iowa passed away on Friday, March 25, 2011, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden. Rev. Gordon Lundberg will officiate. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Community United Methodist Church. Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden is in charge of arrangements.

Sharon Lee (Thom) Carson was born on February 25, 1944, the daughter of Howard and Arline (Stolzenburg) Thom at Columbia Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Following her mother's sudden death after Sharons birth, her and sister Marlene were lovingly cared for by her aunt and uncle Eleanora and Martin Theiss. After age one their father, Sharon and her sister Marlene moved in with their paternal grandparents. In 1953 Howard was united to marriage to Ruth Hansen. Sharon attended high school in Wauwatosa and Brookfield, Wisconsin, graduating with the class of 1962. After her graduation she received a scholarship to Columbia Hospital School of Nursing where she graduated in 1966. Sharon started her career at Columbia Hospital, and later became nurse to Dr. John P. Docktor's plastic surgeon practice in Milwaukee. Sharon met her future husband through friends who was attending Mortuary School in Milwaukee. She married David Allen Carson on July 13, 1968, at the Mt. Zion Evangelical Church in Brookfield, Wisconsin.

The couple moved to Ogden in 1968, making their home at the Ogden Funeral Home. Sharon was a homemaker most of her life. She owned and operated the Vault Restaurant in Ogden. In the spring of 1990, she started taking classes at Iowa State University majoring in Hotel/Restaurant Institution where she met her good friend Jeni Ross who was in the same program. In the spring of 1993 she enjoyed her study abroad program in Switzerland for one semester. Her daughter Jodi, Jeni, and her two aunts Eleanora and Caroline visited Sharon over spring break where they all traveled. Upon her return she went on to graduate school during which time David passed away. She graduated with her Masters Degree in Hotel Restaurant Management, working in the field for several years. In 2002, she started working at the Rowley Memorial Masonic Home in Perry where she was currently employed.

Sharon was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, numerous remodeling jobs in her home, and spending time with her children and grandchildren while vacationing in Minnesota.

Sharon is survived by three children, Mike (Tasha) Carson, Jodi Carson, and Pat (Kerry) Carson all of Ogden; six grandchildren, Brittany (Jared), Corey, Bailey, Hanna, Cooper and Colson; sister, Marlene (Tony) Todaro of New Jersey; brother, John (Jill) Thom of Wisconsin; her aunt, Eleanora Theiss of Wisconsin; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her loving dog Cira.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; niece Laura; and her aunt Caroline.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
