Shirley Peterson

Shirley Peterson, 78, of Boone formerly of Ogden passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at her home.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m., Monday, February 18, 2013, at the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden. Rev. Gary Hoyt will officiate. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden. Shirley Hook was born on April 8, 1934, in Wayne County, Iowa the daughter of J. Louis and Iva (Roseberry) Hook. She graduated with the Humeston High School class of 1951.

On August 28, 1955, Shirley was united in marriage to Donald Peterson in Des Moines, Iowa. The couple moved to Ogden, Iowa. They later divorced. Shirley worked for Banker's Life in Des Moines and as a secretary for Doran, Courter and Quinn Law Office in Boone for over 40 years before retiring.

She was a member of the Community United Methodist Church, was a die hard Cubs fan, loved all sports, fishing and bowling where she was very active with different committee's in the Boone County Bowling Association.

Among the survivors are two daughters, Colleen Peterson of Sun Lakes, Arizona, and Marcia Peterson of Boone, Iowa; three grandchildren, Nate Miller, Bethany Miller and Rebecca Peterson; sister, Mary Erickson of Pennsylvania and a brother, Larry Hook of Zearing, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Olivia Bennett; great grandson, Samuel Bennett; three brothers, Jerry Hook, Robert Hook and Gale Hook; two sisters, Phyllis Catlett and Anna Mae Rawls.
