Steve Walker

Steve R. Walker, 69, of Dayton, Iowa, and formerly of Oelwein, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge.

Steven Ray Walker was born on January 19, 1955, in Oelwein, Iowa, the son of Guy “Skike” and Nancy (Sorenson) Walker Jr.

Steve graduated with the Oelwein High School class of 1973, and then enlisted in the United States Navy. Following his honorable discharge, Steve worked various jobs including Blessing’s in Oelwein, and XL Trailer in Manchester.

On May 16, 2019, Steve was united in marriage to Mary Beth Stickel at their home in Dayton. Mary Beth passed away on May 4, 2020.

Steve enjoyed golfing and was an accomplished pool player. He belonged to Oak Park Golf & Recreation in Dayton.

In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Beth Stickel, twin sisters, Connie Oakes and Vickie Moser, and his sister-in-law, Pam Walker.

Survivors include his son, Jason Bradley of West Union, IA; siblings, Lynn Boleyn, Duane “Swartz” Walker, and Jim (Tammy) Walker, all of Oelwein, IA; and many nieces and nephews and friends.
