Viola M. Sturtz, 93, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2019, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 23, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., at Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden. Pastor Lyle Hansen will officiate. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden. Visitation will be Thursday, August 22, 2019, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church.
Viola Mae Ozbun was born on December 9, 1925, in Ogden, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph Raymond and Lena (Davis) Ozbun. She graduated with the Paton High School class of 1942, and furthered her education at American Institute of Business in Des Moines.
On July 21, 1975, Viola was united in marriage to Dean Sturtz at Zion Lutheran Church. Dean and Viola established their home in Ogden. Viola worked in the Boone County Treasurer’s Office for many years, retiring as Deputy Boone County Treasurer in January, 1991.
Viola was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church. She was an avid bridge player, and enjoyed reading, and spending time with family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 40 years, Dean Sturtz on December 2, 2015, twin brothers, Lowell Dwaine Ozbun and Leonard Dwight Ozbun, and three daughters (Betty, Louise, and Sharon) in infancy.
Survivors include her children, Janine (Douglas) Cohen of Lexington, MA, and Sarasota, FL, Richard “Steve” (Kathy) Fridholm of Omaha, NE, and Karen (Daniel) Fox of Phoenix, AZ; step-children, Richard (Pat) Sturtz of Ogden, IA, and Michele (Larry) Davis of Dallas Center, IA; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be left to Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden or Israel Family Hospice in Ames.
