Violet A. Jacobson, 72, of Ogden, Iowa, died Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at the Boone County Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 13, 2010, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ogden. Rev. Gordon Lundberg will officiate. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden. Visitation will be Friday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden.
Violet Ann Sauerbrei was born on September 25, 1937, in Readlyn, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Anna (Rathe) Sauerbrei. She graduated with the Readlyn High School class of 1956. On March 24, 1957, Violet was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Jacobson from Oakland, Nebraska. To this union, four children were born: Arthur, Mary Jo, Ronald and John. Bob and Violet had lived in Oakland, Nebraska, Zimmerman, Minnesota, Clarksville, Iowa, Jefferson, Iowa and Chandler, Arizona. Violet worked for several years as a nurse's aide. The couple retired and moved to Grand Junction in 1993. Bob passed away on September 27, 2000. Shortly thereafter Violet moved to Ogden where she lived with her daughter, Mary Jo, before moving into her own apartment.
Violet belonged to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ogden where she was active in many church activities. Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, and volunteering at the Ogden Manor. Violet also enjoyed painting Bob's woodworking projects, and the couple would often attend craft shows together. Violet's greatest joy was her children.
Survivors include her son, Arthur (Kimberly) Jacobson of Jefferson, Iowa, and their children, Matthew, Mandy, and Benjamin; a daughter, Mary Jo (Richard) Higgins of Ogden, Iowa, and their children, Michael, Natasha, and Wyatt; son, Ronald (Kathy) Jacobson of Lake Park, Iowa, and their children, Heidi, Crystal, and Leah; son, John (Jacki) Jacobson of Ida Grove, Iowa, and their children, Theresa, Josh, Kristyn, and Ryan; six brothers and their spouses, Warren, Wesley, Wayne, Willis, Walter "Butch", and Woody; four sisters and their spouses, Verlaine, Virginia, Veronica, and Valithia; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Jacobson; and one brother, Willard.
