Warren Delp

Warren J. Delp, 85, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2014, at the Boone County Hospital.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 13, 2014, at Carson – Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden. Rev. Gary Hoyt will officiate. Burial will be at Junction Township Cemetery in Grand Junction. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home. Warren J. Delp was born on August 28, 1928, in Grand Junction, Iowa, the son of Milton and Cecil (Crooks) Delp. He attended country schools in the area of his birth. Warren served his country in the United States Army from October of 1946 to April of 1948.

On December 22, 1949, Warren was united in marriage to Irene Lucille Scholl in Mitchell, South Dakota. To this union three children were born: Kathleen, Douglas, and Duane.

Warren worked as an electrical lineman at Ferguson & Diehl in Jefferson, Iowa. He later farmed south of Jefferson and then farmed in rural Greene County until retiring.

Warren was a former member of the Lions Club in both Paton and Grand Junction, Iowa. He was also a Shriner and belonged to the Rhodes Masonic Lodge #303.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Irene Delp, of Ogden, Iowa; one daughter, Kathleen Sonksen of Aurelia, Iowa; two sons, Douglas (Lisa) Delp of Dana, Iowa, and Duane (Donna) Delp of Jefferson, Iowa; five grandchildren, Joel Delp, Kaylee Delp, Onica Delp, Austin Delp, and Melanie (Wesley) Pierce; one sister, Martha Walston of Perry, Iowa; one brother, Arthur (Sharon) Delp of Fort Dodge, Iowa; two brothers-in-law, Paul Little of Panora, Iowa, and Raymond (Mary Lee) Scholl of Platte, South Dakota; and one sister-in-law, Donna Westra of Platte, South Dakota.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters, Marian Kelley, Dorothy Williams, Eleanor Little, Esther Low, Margarete Hall, and Alice Delp, four brothers, Leland, Delmer, Jacob, and Ronald Delp, and a granddaughter, Andrea Sonksen
