Wilma Higgins

Wilma Jean (Shorey) Higgins, 80, died Monday, March 9, 2015, at the Madrid Care Center at the age of 80.

Wilma's wishes were to be cremated. A gathering and remembrance of her life will be Saturday, March 14, 2015, from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m., at Carson – Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden. Wilma J. Shorey was born on July 9, 1934, in Jefferson, Iowa, to Raymond Oscar and Edna Elizabeth (Gainer) Shorey.

She was married to Richard Higgins for a number of years.

Wilma graduated from Jefferson High School and her early job was at Saba Bakery in Jefferson.

After moving to Boone, Iowa, her jobs consisted of Higgins Concrete Construction, Boone County Home, and Genesis.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Deloris Griffin and Helen Rather.

Survivors include two daughters, Theresea (Hassan) Safari Forooshani of LaVerne, California, and Diana (Shapour) Riahi of North Liberty, Iowa; son, Richard Higgins of Zearing, Iowa; one sister, JoAnn (Darrell) Kersey of Ogden, Iowa, one brother, Raymond Shorey of Illinois. She also had and loved dearly her ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
