Wilma Marion (Gute) McComb the youngest of seven children was born to William Gute and Rushie (Visner) Gute on November 16, 1924. Wilma grew up in Carroll County, Iowa, going to school at Oak Hill country school northwest of Coon Rapids, Iowa. Wilma went through the 8th grade at which time she started working in various homes helping with the daily chores at that time.
Through one of Wilma's sisters, she met the love of her life and on June 1, 1952, married Harold McComb. To this union four sons were born: The couple lived and farmed northwest of Beaver, tilling the soil until retiring in the fall of 1985. They stayed on the farm until moving to Ogden in June of 1988.
Wilma loved to garden and canned or froze the fruits of her labor. Wilma loved to go fishing or playing cards with friends and family. Perhaps the favorite thing in her life was feeding anyone who came to her door. Wilma was happiest whenever she had something on the stove or in the oven.
